| Best Friends Embark On New
Career Path |
Newport, NC has a new flower shop to
add to its lists of businesses. Brighter Dayz Flower
Shoppe has come to town, located at 3391 Railroad Blvd.
The new flower shop will be a full service shop offering
flower arrangements for all occasions, potted plants,
gift baskets, wines and a flower wiring service for your
loved ones that are away.
What makes Brighter Dayz unique is its owners, Maureen
Goddard and Cindy Howard. The pair have been best
friends since they were 12-years-old. Goddard has been
in the flower industry for more than 20 years, while
Howard has been a familiar face at Larry Howard
Nationwide in Newport. Both ladies wanted a change of
pace and in January of this year they stopped talking
about the business ownership dream and began to turn the
talk into action.
"We were going to New Bern in December to take care of
some personal matters and I said to Maureen that one of
these days we're going to have brighter days," said
Howard. 'A light bulb came on. I let my father know I
wanted a new career path and asked if we could buy this
building from him."
Goddard says they have had a lot of help getting the
building ready and things have come together rather
easy. Goddard says she and her best friend are just
kindred spirits.
"Cindy and I are connected and we have the same type of
personality/' says Goddard. " People have been amazing
with all their help and materials."
Goddard will deal with the work end of things, while
Howard will bring her business mind to the table. The
two best friends feel that its a win, win situation
because they both have all the bases covered for being
in business together.
Brighter Dayz opened June 1, 2008 and its hours of
operation will be Monday - Friday, 9-5 and Saturday,
